Fresh Wharf is an urban regeneration project in Barking, London comprising mixed development uses of housing, retail and civic space along the waterfront. The Southern Square is the main point of access between the development and the commercial area on the opposite bank, now connected via a new pedestrian bridge. The square is also an intermediary area between the public waterfront spaces and the private shared gardens. Ecological and ornamental hedges create soft divisions between the two types of spaces. Ecological planting at the water’s edge sculptural seating areas playful landforms. Fresh Wharf Masterplan: Jonathan Renton – Aedas Landscape & Environment – Stock Woolstencroft Architects
